Usually, when a movie prop car heads to auction, it’ll end up sitting in a garage or on display at an auto museum. But, this Ford GT40 replica that was made for the 2019 film Ford v. Ferrari is in fact street legal. And it could be yours. Michigan-based Race Car Replicas constructed six Ford GT40s based on the 1966 car and only one came with a VIN number and title. That means you could purchase this beauty and drive it to pick up the groceries. Though we don’t necessarily recommend it. But the gorgeous bright red paint job will certainly turn some heads. And this Ford GT40 replica is powered by a 5.7-liter V-8 engine connected to a six-speed manual transmission. The auction is expected to start on September 11 with no estimated price released yet. Since it is in fact street legal, it’ll likely fetch quite the fee but certainly not as much as a genuine Ford GT40 (the last of which went for roughly $2.5 million).
