Seiko divers might be pretty conventional, but they represent some of the best values in the watch world because they’re attractive, reliable, and affordable. The Seiko 5 Sports line, especially. The “Time Sonar” line of Seiko 5’s just issued two new references, the SRPJ45 and SRPJ47, with beautiful translucent dials in blue and orange. Both dials are slightly frosted, but you can still see through them to see the date and day disc wheels, which is pretty unique in horology. Flip the watch over, and the tinted glass of the caseback is slightly darker and reveals the in-house 4R36 automatic calibre with 42 hours of power reserve. The cases measure 42.5mm in diameter and get paired with anodized aluminum bezel inserts and Hardlex mineral glass. They’re sure to be conversation pieces based on the unique dials alone.
