While none of us were paying attention, Amazon decided to roll out the Day 1 Editions program–basically their version of Kickstarter, i.e. you don’t pay unless the product gets fully funded before it’s release–with the Smart Sticky Note Printer. This Alexa-enabled thermal printer takes your shopping lists, to-do items, Sudoku puzzles and other small format prints from the digital to physical world by printing them on yellow (or blue, pink, white and potentially other color options if it sees success) sticky paper that’s equal parts Post-It note and shipping label. The thermal printer itself doesn’t require ink or toner, so the only thing you’ll have to worry about replacing is the paper itself, and the entire printing process can be controlled with your voice. If we’re being honest, we were dubious at first too, but it’s a lot easier to shop with a physical grocery or honey-buy list than it is to be constantly referencing a digital version. With this device making it so easy–and being instantly connected to the other Alexa devices at home–it’s almost a no-brainer.
