The legendary Nintendo Game Boy handheld gaming device lasted from 1989 all the way to 2003, making traveling unproductivity and entertainment into reality for generations of us. It’s high time the little guy was re-imagined, and we found our muse in the Nintendo Flex Concept from a designer named YJ Yoon. While he capitalizes on the single unit style that houses a screen and control buttons, the Flex is brought to the modern age with a curved screen for more visual real estate, a similarly concave body, and ergonomic controls that are flush with the case for optimal comfort. The speaker has been relocated so your hand doesn’t muffle the sound, and the cutaway is now more pronounced, as well. The Flex brilliantly retains the linear texture pattern of the original but smartly updates the game cartridge to a USB-C-based pen that pops in the top of the unit. He’s even gone so far as to create packaging design that mimics the shape of the Flex, so it would behoove Nintendo to pay this guy a crap ton of money for his design and get this thing to market post-haste.
