Seiko Prospex dive watches are some of the best designed and most reliable watches in the industry. They kicked off 2022 with a quartet of black-hued automatic dive watches that should be welcomed in any collector’s watch arsenal. The first is the Seiko Prospex SPB253J1, a reimagined version of its iconic diver. The second is the larger SPB255J1, an homage to the 1968 High Beat Diver. The third is the SPB257J1, an update to the Seiko 6105 “Captain Willard”. These first three limited-edition watches all have the in-house automatic 6R35 movement and get specially woven Seichu braided deep cocoa brown NATO strap. They all have 200 meters of water resistance. The first three watches will be limited to 5,500 units. The fourth member is a high-end version of the Willard known as the Prospex SLA061J1 with a 44mm black sand wave textured dial, a black stainless steel bracelet, and a black silicone rubber dive strap. The movement is a high-end 8L35 movement that’s been hand-assembled at Seiko’s Shizukuishi Watch Studio where premium Grand Seiko watches are made. Only 1,000 will be made. Orange accents adorn the hands and unidirectional bezels on all four watches. All three will be available in March, but they will go quickly.
