Longines dug into its back catalog of vintage divers and reissued a new version of its lauded (and first) high-beat dive watch known as the 1968 Ultra-Chrono. Although it’s been redesigned for today, some of it hasn’t changed. The case is upsized by 1 mm to 43mm, and the high-beat movement is now a Swiss ETA L836.6 developed with Longines. It retains the same dial, markers, and hands as the original, sans the absence of a pointer second hand. The prominent red second hand and matching bezel markers pop nicely. The seven-link bracelet is all-new, as is the use of saphhire crystal. The Ultra-Chron is water-resistant to 300 meters and starts at $3,500 (leather and nato straps) and $3,700 (steel bracelet and nato strap).
