There are few things we love more than a new gaming-inspired piece from Love Hultén. After tackling the ‘Game of Life,’ briefcase video game consoles, and a Battleship-inspired console system, the legend himself has turned his eyes to the world of mid century modern furniture with his latest piece. At first glance, the Love Hultén Mid Century Modern Arcade Coffee Table might look like a traditional mid century piece with knobby drawer pulls, but it’s far more than that once you pull out the drawer. After using those same pulls to reveal the multi-button, two-player setup contained in the drawer, the drawer pulls unscrew so they can be screwed in to become the arcade joysticks they were always meant to be. Despite the fact it’s an absolutely gorgeous melding of modern tech with vintage style, it’s not available for purchase at this time. But we imagine with some Bluetooth technology and the proper MAME setup you’d have a museum-worthy piece of furniture that could also double as a two-player controller setup for some serious Street Fighter II battles.
