To this day, Mad Men remains one of our favorite TV shows–despite the fact that it’s been off the air for half a decade. It all comes down to the pitchmen and the stories they tell that we’ll always find intriguing whether they’re real or made up. Which brings us to John Bronco and his eponymous film short. John Bronco tells, “The unbelievable story of the rise, fall and ultimate redemption of the legendary pitchman for the Ford Bronco.” As the story goes, John Bronco was tapped by Ford to race their new prototype SUV at the Baja 500 and he won the race in such spectacular fashion that Ford named the truck after him. Career kickstarted, Bronco would go on to do great things for the brand before disappearing. It’s a great story, but one that is completely fabricated for this mockumentary with Walton Goggins filling the titular role. The cast also includes Tim Meadows as his manager and Dennis Quaid as the narrator–along with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bo Derek and John Moschitta Jr. (aka the Micro Machines guy) as themselves. John Bronco is streaming now on Hulu.
