When we first heard that one of this year’s “most looked forward” to holiday films was called Fatman, we were as dubious at the entire thing as you were. Then we learned that the film stars Mel Gibson, Walton Goggins and Marianne Jean-Baptiste. More importantly, the broad strokes of the plot were revealed. “To save his declining business, Chris Cringle (Mel Gibson), also known as Santa Claus, is forced into a partnership with the U.S. military. Making matters worse, Chris gets locked into a deadly battle of wits against a highly skilled assassin (Walton Goggins), hired by a precocious 12-year-old after receiving a lump of coal in his stocking. ‘Tis the season for Fatman to get even, in the action-comedy that keeps on giving.” Yes, you read that correctly. Mel Gibson is playing a disgruntled Santa Clause trying to outwit Walton Goggins’ Clause assassin in what we’re sure will replace Die Hard as the greatest Christmas film of all time. Fatman is currently set to be released on November 17, 2020. Check out the preview above.
