As much as we love Ninja Batman, we’ve found a new time-traveling version of The Dark Knight that’s even more steampunkish and vintage, created by 3D artist Mohanad Hossam from Egypt. Though we’re guessing Hossam isn’t a costume designer, he really should be given the level of detail here. Instead of modern materials like carbon fiber, Kevlar, and tactical-grade materials, 1887 Batman makes use of leather, brass, copper, and more conventional fabrics. The sheer attention to detail is remarkable: tight-fitting cowl with filigreed metal and Abe-Sapien-like goggles, reinforced leather protection, gas-powered grappling guns with thigh and shoulder holsters, and that iconic utility belt that’s been awesomely reinterpreted. The getup is so brilliant, we can imagine an animated DC movie that’s inspired just by this rendering. We can only imagine what his Bat Horse looks like.
