Ivy-Button-Down

Kamakura Shirts Vintage Ivy Button Down

“With warmer weather just around the corner, I’m clearing out my wardrobe and replacing old garments that no longer fit. I’ve been hearing great things about Kamakura Shirts and since I was in the market for some new button-downs, I decided to give the Japanese brand a try. I was particularly intrigued by their Vintage Ivy collection, a series of limited edition shirts inspired by the timeless look of university campuses. Excellent design meets precise construction in just about everything Kamakura does, so I’m excited to rock this lovely striped button down this summer.” Buy: $99

Deodorant

Fulton & Roark Refillable Deodorant

“I have grown tired of disposable deodorants, so I thought I would give Fulton & Roark’s refillable deodorant a try. Even though it’s about double the price of department store versions, the sheer delight imparted to your olfactory senses is immeasurable. The packaging and operation are also flawless. I’m not sure I’m even going to need to wear cologne anymore. Their ocean-inspired Kiawah version is a sensory escape to the tides off the South Carolina coast with Virginia cedar, citrus, and amber notes. My amateur nose can’t pick out every scent, but I can’t seem to stop sniffing my pits.” Buy: $24

Sunglasses

"Throw Away" Sunglasses

“These are not Ray-Bans and they are not meant to replace them or any other pair of premium sunglasses. These are meant to protect your eyes and just be acceptable-looking. I make it a habit every spring to pick up a pack of these sunglasses just to toss a pair or two in my car, by the lawnmower, and the rest in a small bowl by the back door of my house for those occasions when you are going to be outdoors and you just want to have some eye protection. Lose them at the beach? Who cares? Save the good sunglasses for happy hour or something.” Buy: $11

Belmont

Oliver Cabell Belmont Sneaker

“I’ve been reading a good book lately about rather than acquiring more stuff to be happy we should be focused on having less. In theory, this seemed great until I found my Oliver Cabell Belmont sneakers. How can you say I don’t need them if I’m wearing them daily? Hand-stitched white leather from Marcela, Italy and they are perfect for any occasion or outfit. They look good when I’m at the ballpark or when I’m at my favorite restaurant. Look up versatility in the dictionary and you’ll find these shoes. Get yourself some.” Buy: $199

Grill

Blackstone 36" Griddle Cooking Grill

“Cooking food for the entire family is always a laborious task, but you can easily alleviate some pressure with an enormous cast-iron cooking surface like you’ll find on the Blackstone 36″ Griddle Cooking Grill. After you get it set up and hook up a propane tank, you’ll be able to effortlessly crush two dozen smash burgers, corn on the cob, onions, quesadillas, veggies, and also French Toast in about the amount of time it took you to read this. While I’m all for standard grills and their lack of accessories, the Blackstone makes it easy to cook for the masses–while also allowing you to enjoy the fruits of your labors before it gets cold.” Buy: $297

State-Suit

State & Liberty Athletic Fit Stretch Suit

“While I’m not an athlete myself (sorry, Dad), I have one of those compact, hobbit-like bodies that are sometimes hard to dress well in off-the-rack suits. Usually I go bespoke or get a tailor to fit my ‘problem areas’, as he kindly puts it. But this year, with more weddings on the horizon, I held my breath and ordered a suit online from State & Liberty and was…pleasantly surprised. It’s designed to have a tailored construction with emphasis on an athletic tapered leg for a bit of extra room in the seat and thighs. Especially nice for summer weddings, the lining is breathable and moisture-wicking. You’ll see me on the dance floor all night long without any of the dreaded Swamp Ass™ (again, sorry, Dad).” Buy: $550

Asics

ASICS Men's Upcourt 4 Indoor Sport Shoes

“I took up squash recently and it requires shoes with non-marking soles. Meaning they will not leave marks on the squash court. The selection of squash shoes leaves a lot to be desired. These ASICS had the right size, price, availability, and good reviews on Amazon. I played my first game in them last week and they were surprisingly comfortable and lightweight and had good traction on the court too. I still suck at squash, but at least I have a decent pair of kicks.” Buy: $160
