Retail behemoths have long promised a greener future for their business practices. I’m happy to say that Nike isn’t just promising, it’s doing. Introducing Nike’s Re-Creation program, a new avenue for sustainability within Nike’s ever-growing retail model. Using deadstock and vintage garments, the Re-Creation program will use local designers and manufacturers to create new, recycled garments in limited production. Debuting at Los Angeles’ The Grove this week, the Re-Creation Program offers an ingenious way to combat excess fatigue in the marketplace while combining the element of rarity that’s popular in fashion “drops” right now. We’re excited to see how this develops and expands to encompass a new way to retail in fashion.
